Hi all. I am building a new daul Athlon system for animation. I would like to play some games but most will only rum on win98/ME so the question is how do I dual booot win2K and win98. 2k will be the primary os, 98 will be used just for games and maybe a little Linux since I am more familiar with Unix.
Thx,

Put in the Win2K CD while you're in Win98, and it should give you the option of creating a dual-boot.

I'm currently running both on my laptop using Bootmagic as part of Partition Magic 6. It's the best $60 you can spend. Just install it in the 98 partition, create a new bootable partition and then choose which you want with Bootmagic menu. That way I've been able to blow away either install and install clean without disrupting the other OS.

The easiest and cheapest way to do it on a single drive is to use fdisk on the win98 setup to make just a fat32 partion smaller then the total size of the drive. I have a 40.9 gig drive that I made a 19 gig partion for win98. Format the drive, then installed win98. After win98 is installed, boot from the win2k cd. Let it create its own NTFS drive and install. It will automatically setup the boot selection menu for win98 and win2k. You will have 30 seconds to choose one, with the default being win2k. You can go into computer properties under win2k to change the wait time and the default booting OS. No need for $60 software.

You can prick your finger, but don't finger your prick!
