I have an m.2 ssd that has a corrupt version of win10 on it and I want to completely erase it and use it in another computer.

cannot put it into another computer to erase it as it tries to boot from it

tried changing the boot order in uefi boot settings but it still continues to try and boot from it on restart

when i pull it out of the laptop, the laptop boots from from the original win10 OS as it should

how can i erase the m.2 so that i can use it?

So thats the only drive you see? Did you try the "Delete" button when clicking on it?

If you can't do that press SHIFT+F10 at that screen, It will open a command prompt.

Then type "diskpart" and hit enter

then type "list disk" hit enter, it should only list drive 0

Next "select disk 0"

"clean" (this kills whatevers on there and reformats)

"convert GPT"

"exit"

Then close the window.

At that point the drive is completely...

i created a bootable usb flash drive on another desktop pc, setup uefi to boot from that usb and when it boots from the usb, a windows setup window pops up saying this:

" It looks like you started an upgrade and booted from installation media. If you want to continue with the upgrade, remove the media from your PC and click Yes. If you want to perform a clean installation instead, click No."

I'm apprehensive on which to choose as I don't want to clean erase the hdd with win 10 on it
which should I choose?

when i get to the "where do you want install windows" the format option is greyed out.

"New" and "Load Driver" are the only 2 options available.

I removed the original hdd with win10 so this is the only drive in the laptop

the drive is called "Drive 0 unallocated space"

what should i try now?

At that point the drive is completely wiped. It should not try to boot or anything at that point. Then on whatever computer you use it in you need to make sure to set the bios to not boot from it.
