Hi there,

I got a Teac DV-W23E disk drive from savaging my very old HP Pavilion dv-1000. Based on the specs outlined in

http://www.pchub.com/uph/laptop/337-64018-1896/Teac-DV-W24E-DVD-RW-Writer-Bare-.html

and

http://www.cnet.com/products/teac-dv-w24e-dvdrw-dvd-ram-drive-ide-series/specs/

My questions are :

1) I think the optical drive has IDE/ATAPI interface. What connectors do I need to purchase if I want to connect the drive externally to my new desktop via USB.

2) What powers the optical drive? I researched online a bit, and found out that many of the disk drives are connected to a power supply. I doubt if Teac DV-W23E can be connected to a power supply.

Thank you for the help.
