You aren't going to get very far in No Man's Sky if you don't fuel up your ship, so where do you find this precious resource?
Step 1)Repair your scanner.
If you are just starting out and need to fuel up your ship, your scanner is also broken. Fix that first and it will make finding the fuel sources much easier. Check out my guide here on how to fix this vital tool.
Step 2)Find some Plutonium crystals.
Now that your scanner is up and running you'll be able to find these a bit easier, but they are shown as red crystal formations and are pretty common in the game.
Step 3)Fuel up your ship with the Plutonium.
Once you have a good supply of the red crystals, you can head back over to your ship to interact with it. Select your engines and push the button associated with refueling it.
Now that you've got a full tank of gas, it's time to head out and explore the planet! You'll need to get access to antimatter and a hyper drive in order to really start exploring though.
