How to fix a digital scale.

Hello. I recently had a scale brought to me. I was told their washing machine overflowed and the scale wont work since it was soaked in water. They said they had taken the battaries out and dried it with a hair dryer.

I put brand new batteries in it to see the scale turned on and beeps when i press buttons. But it just displays garbage on the lcd.

I opened up the scale to see everything was dry but the board was all corroded.

I soaked the board in alcohol and scrubbed all of the corrosion off. It looks perfect now, but it still doesnt work and the screen looks the same.

Anything else i can do?

Soaked in water with the battery in means something shortcircuited.

At a minimum, the LCD needs to be replaced. Possibly the whole circuit board.

unless u want rewire coroded traces, ud better get new one

Pretty sure the lcd is fine, just the board is bad.

It could be either i guess, but something makes me think lcd is fine.

I did miss some corrosion near the lcd pins so i might clean it again. Doubtful it woll do anything but whatever
