My laptop: legion y520 15ikBn

So i have been having this issue with my internet for a week

Internet connection slows down for couple minutes every 10 minutes and in games my ping would be around 60 normally then jump to 1000 for a couple of minutes then return to 60 every 10 minutes or less.

Ive checked that the issue is not with my internet itself by using another laptops and it was fine so made sure that the issue was with my laptop not my internet itself then i tried connecting an ethernet and it didn't even work it keeps saying connecting then disappears so i made sure that the issue wasnt with my cable so i used another one and same thing happened and i used the same cable on another laptops and it worked fine so i made sure that the issue was with my laptop then i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the realtek pcie gbe family controller and the wifi driver and it didn't work

Im 100% sure the issue is with my laptop not the cable or the router cuz it is working on all other devices in my house normally

I also tried most of the solutions on the internet and none worked like unistalling drivers and disable and enable the ethernet
i tried some that made ethernet appear connected on my laptop but it worked for few minutes then it stopped working and when i trouble shooted it. it said couldnt configure ip address for my ethernet

So is there a fix for either my wifi connection being so slow every 10 minutes

And

Is there a fix for my ethernet not working ?

Here is my ip config

Solution
I hate to hear that the pin broke. 🙁 Someone definitely was forceful with that jack and that was probably the root cause of the problem.

Yes, a usb3.0 gigabit adapter will work just as fast, and hopefully with fix all the problems. :)

Now that we have the grammar lesson out of the way, we can begin. 😀

You've done a great job of drilling down the culprit. So now we need to check your laptop. The best way to do this would be to boot a linux live cd/usb and see if you have the same ping issues. If so, it's a hardware issue. If not, it confirms that the issue is a windows software issue.

If the problem is indeed occurring/re-occurring every 10 minutes use either Task Manager or Resource Monitor to observe what changes or happens at the "10 minute" mark.

You can use either Task Manager or Resource Monitor but just one at a time. Task Scheduler is another consideration.

The objective is to identify something that is running in the background and trying to update, backup, or simply "phone home".

im sorry for bad english
but my question was 2 parts 1 was the issue with wifi
second was my ethernet wasnt working and it was going: identfying then disconnect then identfying in a loop,
so i changed in ethernet adapter settings thing called Qos packet scheduler based on guide vids i changed the speed & duplex from auto negotgiation to 10 full mbs duplex

thnx for the grammer lesson btw

im sorry i shouldnt say 10 minutes its like random somtimes it is every 10 minutes sometimes every half an hour somtimes might be good for hours it is so random and im 90% sure it is somthing with the connection not with some app in background using the internet

You're welcome for the grammar. :) I know (sadly) they don't teach it in schools any more, so I knew that maybe you just didn't know.

Because it is both ethernet adapters I really want to see what is happening in linux. Did the port work when you set it to 10Mbps?

It still could be some sort of app or malware, but let's first confirm that the hardware is working right with the linux test.

When i set the port to 10mbps it was stable but says unidentified and no internet so it wasnt disconnecting but it still says unidentfied and no internet .

about the linux test i will be doing it in a few hours cuz i need to learn how to set it up first. i will update once it is done
thanks for the help

Yeah, so 10Mbit was not any better really.

Easiest way is to just write a cd and boot off of it:

But if you don't have a cd/dvd drive, you can also write an iso to a usb drive and boot that way:

im sorry for the inconvenience but im looking forward to fix the the ethernet issue more than the wifi issue cuz with the wifi, my router is a bit far from my room so there might be some issues with the signal strength but it was working fine until few weeks ago i started having this issue with my wifi

So what im saying is can u help me with my ethernet issue cuz ethernet would be most optimal as im a bit far from my router so fixing it would be the best
What i tried to fix the ethernet issue and didnt work:

I tried a diffrent cable and it didnt work then i tried both cables on other laptop and it worked fine
i think it is somthing wrong with the software cuz few weeks ago i was using ethernet using a diffrent cable and it worked it was like a short yellow one (idk if that will help you) so i think there the ethernet adapter or NIC is working fine and the issue is somthing with the software
I also unistalled the windows and downloaded a windows 10 but without the updates and wasnt working too so i tried updating it too and nothing happened
I also tried unistalling and reinstalling the driver for both ethernet and wifi and also nothing happened.

Btw my laptop is lenovo legion y520 15kbin

I contacted lenovo support and they told me to do the stuff in this link which i will be doing it now.

So can u help me fix the ethernet issue as it is more optimal than the wifi issue.
thanks for the help <3.

I used the terminal and used ping command to ping ping my router ip address 192.168.x.x and it had an average time about1 or 3 ms but sometimes it jumps to 1000 or 500 ms for few seconds and i think that what causes ping spikes in my game

Great work! So we've been able to determine you have some sort of hardware issue with your ethernet port.

There was an oddball problem in another thread with an ethernet port that was solved by changing the laptop charger to an original from a compatible--do you have the original laptop charger or is it a replacement?

no im using the orginal laptop charger
but may i ask wht does the charger has to do with my ethernet connection
Nothing in your case since you have the original charger.

The person in the other thread would have their ethernet not work at all on the charger but was working fine on battery. Once they changed from a compatible charger to the original, the ethernet worked fine either on power or battery. This might have been a possibility in your case, but it is not since you are using the original power adapter.

Ok i see that there are 7 pins where 1 in the middle idk if i can say it is bent but it is sticking to the celling of the port where the other pins are a little distance between it and the celling of the port

im talking about the port inside the laptop not the cable.
