hi, so basically my computer randomly crashed and upon trying to reboot the computer it would not start. long story short i think the ssd which was containing my OS on has been corrputed or something. I redownloaded windows onto my other hardrive and got it all working again. however the original ssd does not show up in bios but it shows as 'uknown device' in device manager and shows up as 'disk 0' in disk manager but needs to be initialized. when i try initiliaze the disk it comes up with ' a device which does not exist was specified. The SSD does not show up in other places like my computer. i used diskpart and it recognises the disk but has size 0b and free 0b. i have tried changing wires and ports and that does not fix the problem. I am completely stumped on what else to try. i have some important data on the SSD that ideally i can retrieve.

Could be a dead SSD but you should also try with new cable. If it doesn't show iin BIOS there's nothing you can do to fix it or salvage files.

i think the ssd may be dead tbh. i have tried with deifferent cables and in different ports and no luck. but im confused as to why it will show in device manager or disk manager

This is specifically what backups are for.

Drives die. Eventually all of them.
Or, you accidentally format something. Or delete it. Or get a nasty virus.

Please take this as a heads up to start a comprehensive backup routine.
A dead drive should never involve loss of data.
i know in hindsight i should of done this, but the issue is i havent and im trying to see what i can do about the current problem.
