how to fix wifi on laptop

I already had wifi on my laptop. And in my area i could access the wifi and i had the security and typed it in. Its been fine then the bars would now be down to one so i can't connect to internet. When i got a router to help it out it now has a Red X by my old wifi that i normally connect to but it show the new router but still doesn't connect. So how do i get back my regular wifi. Please help thank you.

Your setup is a bit confusing. What WiFi network were you connecting to? What is the router connected to and how? Are you using it as an extender to the other network or connected to your modem? Did you read the instructions on the router on how to set it up?
