If you need to fix the Windows 10 Install Error 0xc004e016, here’s how you do it.
Fix Windows 10 Install Error 0xc004e016
There are a couple of ways we can address the error so I’ll begin at the simplest and work towards the more involved.
1. Make sure the version of Windows 10 you installed is the same as the version of Windows 7 or 8 you already had activated. Windows 7 or 8 Home can only activate Windows 10 Home. The same goes for Pro and for x64 and x32 versions.
2. You will have to reinstall Windows 10 if you got the version wrong.
Or:
1. Check your internet connection is working normally.
2. Navigate to Settings, Update & Security, Activation.
3. Hit Activate Now every few minutes. Do this over the space of a few hours.
Or:
1. Open a CMD window as an administrator.
2. Type or paste ‘slmgr /upk’ and press Enter
3. Type or paste ‘slmgr.vbs /cpky’ and press Enter
4. Type or paste ‘slmgr /ckms’ and press Enter
5. Type or paste ‘slmgr.vbs /ckms’ and press Enter
6. Type or paste ‘slmgr /skms localhost’ and press Enter
Or:
1. Open a CMD window as an administrator.
2. Type or paste ‘slui 4’ into the Search Windows box.
3. Select your country and call the automated activation system.
4. Go through to a tech if automatic activation does not work.
