How to fix windows visa that will not open or fix itself

computer was working fine.....then I left it sitting open ....and back screen was up stating it could not find operating system...... I rebooted the computer, then black screen came up asking to either open computer normally if it had not been closed down properly or click to have computer fix itself ..........

so I clicked for computer to fix itself......but, it will not do anything......I've turned off and on and tried both asking computer to fix itself and also asked it to open computer normally and nothing happens

any thoughts??? or suggestions???

Test the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic DOS software which loads from a bootable CD. The links are here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

To make a CD from the ISO file you can use the free IMGBurn from here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn/

Boot your faulty computer from that CD to test it's hard drive.
