I was given a used NVMe ssd that I have installed on the motherboard of a new build. What would be the best way to format the ssd after the first start up so that I can install the operating system on this drive?

I do not have access to another computer with NVMe .

Thanks

Copy the windows 10/11 installation ISO and make a bootable USB formatted in Fat32. Then you can plug in the USB to boot from the USB and since its a windows installer, it will install windows. you can obviously configure how and where its installed from here. You'll see the NVMe drive in the installer once you get the the "select where to install" screen. You can format the drive and make partitions from here.

Refer;
Download Windows 10 ISO | Download windows 11 ISO
How to create a Bootable installation media for Windows
Rufus Download (used to create bootable USB of win installation)

Use diskpart clean.
When booted from windows installation media, press Shift+F10 to open command prompt.
You do not have to format it. Windows install process will partition and format drive as necessary.
