Hi,

I got a Prime Z690-P and while using a screwdriver and one of those Philips to hex bolt things to install a stand off for an M.2 SSD I managed to over-torque the stand off and sheared it off, leaving the thread in the screw hole. This has effectively rendered one of my M.2 slots useless as I can't put a stand off in it to support the SSD.

There is a miniscule bit of screw hole exposed on the other side of the board which I've tried screwing into to push the stuck bit of screw out but no luck

is there anything I can try outside of getting an extremely small drill bit and getting it out that way?

Thanks

Yes, drilling is only way but you have to be extremely careful. If you can do it from the back, chances are it will unscrew even before you drill right thru. Generally those threads are very soft brass.

Thanks for the replies, eventually managed to sort it out

For future reference if anyones comes across this post with a similar issue, i was unable to drill it out due to me buying the wrong type of bit

In the end i was able to use use a hex tool to remove the m2 anchor point from the board entirely

I then used a plastic m2 anchor loop to secure the drive which works perfectly

I'm facing this issue right now, may I know how you solve it? I read that you used m2 anchor loop to secure the drive, any pics or link to it?
