I ordered a new SSD from Amazon, (Crucial BX100), with my intention being to install Windows 10 onto it, and use my current drive, with Windows 7 on it (an HDD), as mass storage.

How would I be able to do this, since I lack a disk with Windows 10 on it.

Solution
Several ways to do this.

1.
Wait until your particular PC gets the upgrade to Windows 10.
Upgrade it on your existing drive
Install the SSD
Clone from the old drive to the new drive (assuming space requirements are OK)

2.
Clone your existing drive, or install the OS clean on the SSD
Wait until your device can Upgrade to Windows 10.
Do that

3.
Wait until your device upgrade to Windows 10
After, obtain the ISO file
Clean install Windows 10 on the new SSD.

Odds are Microsoft will release an iso of Windows 10 sometime after release, and if you signed up for the upgrade already then it should register properly. This would be a good option for a clean install, and something I would be interested in. I am speculating, of course, because Microsoft has been either tight-lipped or ambiguous about such topics. I'm also pretty sure that Microsoft also plans to treat the upgrade from Windows 7/8 to 10 like a huge update that should keep all data intact. If you do this option successfully, then you can just migrate the new Windows 10 partition to a different drive using partition management software.
