How to Have Multiple Instances of VLC Media Player Going at Once?

Hi everyone.

Does anyone know how to play more than one instance of the VLC media player at once?

I know how to use the shortcut keys in this player, but not really with other media players so I thought it would be useful if I could just have multiple instances of VLC media player going at once.

hmmm, have you tried the portable version? does it allow more than one instance?

yeah, use the portable version. there is a setting under preferences that make it also use just one instance, but the portable version should just run as many times as you click it.

i just tested it, I am correct. Go to PortableApps.com and get VLC Portable.

I just tried running VLC Media Player Portable alongside my installed version of VLC Media player, but it wasn't able to run because my installed version is currently open.

I got this message when I tried to run VLC Media Player portable (when my installed version of the player was already open):

"Another instance of VLC Media Player is already running. Please close other instances of VLC Media Player before launching VLC Media Player Portable."

lol, just use the installed version as posted above and set that preference so you don't need portable at all. I only use portable, your installed version setting is stopping it from running more than once is all.

so go under tools->preferences and turn it off on the installed version and just ditch the portable
