I know it sounds stupid when you read it, but that's what I'm trying to do. I have an NEC MultisyncP484 for my main monitor, and an Acer as my smaller secondary. I currently only have the NEC hooked up to my PC, and I have them on a switch that I hook up to my work laptop when I work from home, and that's when the Acer comes into play. What I'm trying to do now, is to hook up the Acer to use for discord, Guilded, webpages, files, or any other things I want to have open while gaming, so I don't have to switch out of the game screen, cuz we know that's not always possible.

Right now I have this splitter hooked up for dual screens when I'm using the laptop: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085DKZX2B

My question is, do I need a different splitter with more ports, or how the heck do I hook up what I already have so I can use the second monitor on a daily basis with my current setup?

They are known as KVMs if you want input control. Otherwise what you have now sounds like it should be sufficient. If you are wanting 3 inputs, than yes, HDMI switch with 4 ports would do. KVM would do the same thing, but also let you switch over keyboard/mouse/usb.

It looks like I was almost there. I had a KVM open in Amazon and needed confirmation that I was looking at the right thing.

Does this look like the right thing? https://www.amazon.com/Monitors-Computers-Switches-Keyboard-Controller/dp/B0D5D5T4SS Or maybe I can even go with this: https://www.amazon.com/Monitors-Computers-Switches-Keyboard-Controller/dp/B0D5D4FK1H and use what I currently have as well? I guess my big question now is, how would I hook this all up so that it functions right? (please explain this like I'm 5, I second guess myself CONSTANTLY. lol)

You can't play a game and control discord or whatever else on a second monitor from the same PC without alt tabbing.
No amount of switches will help you there.

If you want to you can use the laptop to control discord/the second screen, in which case you don't need anything, just hook the laptop up to the acer.
