How to identify R9 290X and R9 290

Hi,

I am buying a used Sapphire R9 290X to crossfire it with my existing one. The seller is from ebay and he is saying he will only provide the card. I have seen that it is tough to differentiate these two cards because the ati software only reports R9 200 series driver. ANd both the cards are same size and length. How can I be sure of I have got a R9 290X, not R9 290.

See if the clock speeds match the spec

Pull your card when you get it and run GPUz on it. Make sure it has the correct number of shaders, etc.

Same way GPUz does. Looks at the specs of the cards and tells you what it is.
