Hello

Is there anything that can be done to improve the cooling system of the following old desktop computer?

It seems the ventilator works but for some reason CPU core temperatures end up going high enough to reach the critical levels easily and the computer ends up turning off quite often except for winter time.
For example uploading pictures to Google photos overheats CPU quickly, in around 4 minutes, so that it's cores reach 92-93 centigrade degrees and then the computer shuts down automatically.

The temperatures in idle state doing nothing after boot-up are as follows, which is not really high, but they go higher easily:

Cada 2,0s: sensors Fujitsu: Tue May 19 14:46:55 2020

acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +30.0°C (crit = +110.0°C)

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +70.0°C (high = +82.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 1: +70.0°C (high = +82.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 2: +66.0°C (high = +82.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 3: +69.0°C (high = +82.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

The desktop computer has the following settings:
Lubuntu 18.04

dmidecode -t 2

# dmidecode 3.1
Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs.
SMBIOS 2.5 present.

Hi @thosecars82

Mind taking a pic of the inside of your case for us to take a look at? Curious as to the cable layout which would give us an indication of airflow. Speaking of which, is the case closed and stashed in a confined space? Hot air, regardless of how much it's moving around, is still hot air.

Can you verify that the heatsink & fan on top of your 6600 is clean and in good working order? If it's the stock one that came with the PC, and you plan on keeping the PC, would advise on replacing it with a better cooler. Regardless, it would be a good idea to remove the heatsink & fan and reapply the thermal paste.

What are the specs of the rest of your PC?
