Hi,

I have a Dell PowerEdge R740 with H740P RAID Adapter with 3 Samsung SM863a MU 960GB SSDs in RAID-5 configuration. I have Windows Server 2016 installed on it.
I want to install a Samsung PCIe SSD (I have a spare 1T 970 Pro with me). When I boot from a USB (FAT32 with Windows installer), I can successfully install the OS.
However, after I install Windows on the nvme drive, the server doesn't detect the drive as a Boot drive. It doesn't even show up in the Boot settings a drive.

Anyone has any suggestions?

Thanks!

Do you have any options to interact with the drive from F2 > Device Settings? If the drive does populate there, what are you able to adjust with it? What do you see in F2 > System BIOS > NVMe Settings? I would also double check the BIOS and the iDRAC firmware. The current server family is supposed to be friendlier to aftermarket PCI cards than previously, and there have been some updates to PCI handling, too. It may be worth a look.
