Question How to install Windows 11 to unsupported hardware?

The caveat being, that it could STOP working with any Microsoft update. Possible? Yes with various workarounds. Will it continue to work? Unknown.
I agree 100% Microsoft is well Microsoft.

My take on this issue is out of the 4 years I have used Windows 11 on the non supported hardware I have gotten 1.460 day out of an cast off system and even if Microsoft send the black bullet over the internet and things change tomorrow I would have lost nothing for the extra milage I gained.

The countless cups of coffee using the computer and it still gaming minus not having AVX instructions.

I saved 2 whole generation of parts upgrades as if I replaced hardware 4 years ago for Window 11 it would be time to upgrade again market wise as the 4 year old parts are now over the hill.

I agree running Window 11 on non supported CPU might end but right now it's like telling someone it might rain and you stay in and you missed a great day.

My advice is to spend $25.00 + shipping for a new SSD.

Unplug your current Windows 10 SSD/ Hard Drive + any other drive you may have. And install Windows 11 on fresh SSD.

I'm always extra anal about others peoples personal stuff on there older OS install.

Plus you need to just do a fresh clean install of Windows 11 and move forward. If you don't and it runs like crud you need to know it's not the old Windows 10 baggage and just a driver Windows 11 needs.

The added security of if something has a minor glitch you don't loose everything putting 11 over Windows 10.

Or, you could have left it on WIN 10, and had that same (so far) 1,460 days.

I may just pay the $30 a year for the extended W10 support on our "back-up" Dell Precision...which started life on W7. It was my Son's College box set up specifically with hardware and software for Engineering. I paid "way to much" for this very solid machine just to throw it away.

YMMV

Well, here is an alternative that at least look like W11 - wubuntu.org

Some benefits over traditional MS W11
  • Free of charge - but also have a Pro version.
  • Takes much less disk space than traditional W11.
  • Linux compatible (well, it IS Linux after all)
That said, I haven't tested that particular distro myself.
