How do I check if I am able to upgrade my processor in my laptop?

You can't update processors in laptops. They're basically soldered onto the board. The only thing you can do with an old laptop is (sometimes) increase the RAM or better yet, install a Solid State Drive. Research the benefits of both here.

If you have or can obtain all the media the laptop came with, wiping it from scratch is always a nice boost as well.
