How to lock up a desktop?

I am going to be going to college in a few weeks, living on campus in a dorm. I have a laptop and a custom built desktop sitting in a 450D case. My question is, how can I keep my desktop locked down making sure no one takes it? I know for my laptop, I can have the PC cable thing, but I mean, if someone really wanted to come into my room and steal it, then they would just cut the cable, since they already got into my room without me or my roommate knowing. But I guess I can still lock it down, so they just can't sneak out with it.
My largest concern is my monitor, mouse, keyboard, and of course the desktop. Has anyone had any experience with securing all 3 of there things? I mean, ones in public libraries have cables and things too, but where would I lock it on a Corsair 450D?

My campus security has S/N registering. Should I get the S/N off of my parts, etc? Or make my own, since they do engraving? I mean, I can always engrave the case, but the internals are the thing someone would want if anything

My floor and the floor above and the 2 below are all engineering floors. Some of the kids have their own desktops (custom built). I mean, maybe I am just freaking out. What padlock could I use to keep the side panel on my case, since the full thing would be too large for them to take?

I agree with above. You are actually much more likely to get beer pored on it than anything else happening. A large computer case is not a high theft item -- unbranded PCs dont resale well. Not like an ipad or something that everyone knows.

That said, if you want to run a cable through the water cooling holes on the 450d for peace of mind you could. Also, just don't put it on display. The average idiot won't have any idea its valuable unless they see it all set up with custom lighting, etc. Put it in the corner behind your desk, and noone will ever look at it twice.

Finally, if you are extremely concerned -- buy renters insurance. That way you can replace your system if stolen. (Don't waste your life in your dorm room guarding it. It's really not worth that.)

Very true. Guess no LEDs in the window then xD

just put items in a locker or closet and lock it before you go out if you feel unsafe.

Thank you 😀
