So far I've canceled my reservation and removed the Get Windows 10 app windows update, however even if I try to install only the windows 7 updates always the first thing that pops up when I click download is the "Windows 10" and downloading setup. I've heard nothing but negative things so far about it and my only wanting from it was DX12. So, is there anything I can do so every time I try to download a windows update for 7 it won't try to download 10?

Its mostly the fact that you have to dig through menus to not make windows updates happen automatically, and the inbuilt store and such, and I don't care for any of that crap, I just like my windows 7. So can you possibly help me or not?

So, in your Update Window, click on "Show all available updates"
Right click on the Windows 10 one, you should see an option for "Hide Update"

First you should be installing the updates. The majority of updates will be to fix security holes found in Windows and other Microsoft programs. These security holes can then be used to exploit your computer.

As far as the apps you can uninstall most and hide the rest. Then you can use the Start menu which is highly customizable to organize your programs anyway you see fit.

But for the love of making sure the internet is more secure, INSTALL YOUR UPDATES.

Not sure how upgrading from windows 7 to windows 10 will stop that from happening, I want the normal windows 7 updates, not the windows 10 ones the problem is when I try to install just updates for windows 7 this happens:

Tried that, and all it does is stop it from appearing in the list, it still tries to download it even when unchecked.

I just ran updates on my 8.1 system, and with that unchecked, it did not attempt to do anything with it.
Nothing at all.

A good example of what can happen when you don't update your computer. 600,000 MACs were infected in this outbreak. Granted they used a Java exploit; so make sure you update Java too.
