As the title says, I have a spare fan here but it has a LED red light. It won't match the whole rig, so I want to destroy the led lights. But I don't know how. Can a modder please shed light on this one please?
When I was a lad I had an rg500 suzuki import. It had a red light on the clocks that used to flash at 65mph. It was to let you know you were breaking the japanese speed limit. Black electrical tape worked great.

Why would you go faster than the speed limit or were you outside of Japan?

Chrisso, you are my kinda mechanic; simple and effective fixes.
But that's the problem bro, I don't know which wire to cut. They are just all side by side, it's like a bomb. 🙁 If I cut the wrong one, the fan won't spin anymore. hahaha
The leds on my fans were secured with hot glue.
A few seconds with a heat gun and they came right out.
Then pulled the sticker back and desoldered the wires.
Now I have several leds that radio shack might sell for a few $$ a peice.
You can pull then out with pliers, you remove the excess wires and also if you want, you can reuse them else where, i rewired one into the heatsink of my cpu cooler
If you go where the LED is, breaking one of the silver contacts that power it will disable it, also cutting the wires to the LEDs works too.
This was basically the solution, just cut off the silver contacts. I cut the ground one just to be safe, and kept the positive still in contact. I was afraid that if I cut the positive, the positive contact from the pcb of the fan would throw SMALL electric disturbances. Thanks bro.
