How to open IE shortcut in maximised mode?

I have a PC running W7 Professional and IE11.

On the desktop I have created a number of shortcuts, each containing a URL , for commonly used websites. However, whenever I use one it always opens up IE in a long, thin window. What I would like it to do is open up in a maximised window.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I have managed to create a shortcut that points to the IExplore.exe file and this has a setting in the properties that allows you to specify to open maximised - this is absent in the URL shortcuts.

It it possible to set the shortcut to IEplore.exe to open a specific website? If so, then this might be the way to do it.

Would using another browser, such as Chrome, offer any other solutions?
