How to plug the Phanteks Evolv X USB 3.1 front pannel connector to my motherboard?

Hi!

I have recently bought a Phanteks Evolv X templed glass which includes a front USB 3.1 connector.

My problem is that that the Phanteks case has an internal cable for its front USB 3.1 pannel with a strange connector on its end... Do to the lenght of the cable I guess it is only able to be plugged to motherboards with that connection.

However my motherboard doesn't has that type of connector. I bought a Gigabyte Aorus X299 Gaming 3 Pro motherboard with 2 rear USB 3.1 connectors (one type A and one Type C) but it has no internal usb 3.1 connector (only USB 3.0 and 2.0 connectors).

I know... it was my mistake to buy the motherboar without looking at is specs on the type of internal connectors :/

So I'm wondering if there is some kind of "cable extensor" that may allow me to connect the Phanteks case USB 3.1 connector cable to one of the two rear motherboard 3.1 connectors.

Here you are the the phanteks internal usb 3.1 connector....

Here you are the rear Gigabyte motherboard usb 3.1 connectors, notice there is one type A and other type C...

Another possibility would be to find a 3.1 usb to 3.0 usb motherboard adaptor.

Thanks in advance!

So after some serious googling, the only thing I could find that would come close to helping you out is this.
However, it's an adapter that adapts 3.1 male to 3.0 female header on motherboard.
This seems to be literally the only thing out there I can find that even has the ability to adapt a male cable into something else.
Everything out there is to adapt a 3.1 female header on a motherboard to something else which isn't the case for you.

So at the very least with this you could get front panel working but only with 3.0 speeds.
Also, it's pricey at $50 USD.

Choose the currency option on the right hand side to see different currency if you don't live in US.

You can of course keep digging further than I have if you like to try and find something.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick answer... that's what I need. I know I would lost some speed but at least it should work fine.

However the price is so high and also I'm from Spain so I should add the shipping cost.

Anyway I will keep looking for similar adaptors with a better price... and if I could find them I would use this option.

Thanks again

Can you take off the front panel so you can get to where the cable plugs into the front panel where all the ports are?
Take a look and tell me if the 3.1 cable connects to the front panel with a plug that can be removed. If it's loose cables that look soldered then don't bother, but if it's unpluggable then unplug it and take a picture of the connector so I can see what it looks like and how many pins it uses to connect.

Hi!

I'm sorry but there is no easy way to access the internal side of the front panel conectors. And I'm afraid of breaking something and loss the case waranty :/

Anyway, don't worry about it, that 3.1 is not an essential feature for me. If I manage to get some adaptor like the one you discovered it would be enought.

Thanks again!
