How to prevent scanning/ ddos attacks?

I use skype for gaming and people keep randomly adding me getting my ip and kicking me offline to win matches. Also have a lot of people i've played with showing off by telling me my ip and info because they can easly get it i guess. How can i prevent all that>

What game. If you are joining there PC to play a game no way to hide your IP through thhatreally. Not sure if a VPN works for gaming so I'll leave that to someone else

Your problem is skype. There is a hack...i thought they fixed it..that allows you to get someones IP address if you know their skype id. Once some one has your ip it is not too hard to cause issue for you. The same is true if you use anything controlled by another user. Many times the person who pays for the server can get lots of information. This includes private game servers as well as the many audio conferencing systems. You need to be very careful what you log into. Many of the better systems even if you pay for them do not allow you access to people information. Servers hosted in someone house though you can do nothing about.

There really is not much you can do. VPN to a point will prevent this but a lot of system do not work well though vpn services.

Pretty much this only affects gamers....why you need to win pretty flashy lights on a screen by cheating I never understood. I could see someone stealing money but really all you can do with a ip is be a pain and harass someone with denial of service attacks.
