Question How to prevent Windows from frequently awaking secondary drives

I want Windows 10 to have seamless essential access to the drive, what I don't want, which really bothers me is that some obscure process keep awaking the drive to perform system maintenance action like indexing or whatever, unless as result of my requests. Every 10 min or so the HDD is awaken for no significant reason (possibly the index system or antivirus), it doesn't make sense. My PC is naked, installed on the wall in front of me. It's very quiet except for that drive! Every time it's awaken it's very annoying and unnecessarily wears it out. I already set the index off for that drive and excluded it from virus scans. I don't want to set the drive offline for this would make it troublesome to set it back online every time I need files from it.

You can use Resource Monitor to track down which process is accessing the drive. You might have to keep a constant eye on it though since it may only appear briefly.

I've tried that. It's a generic process. I can't safely stop it.
