Hello,
I have been having a very odd problem with (what I assume) is a problem with my GPU or possibly the connections with my GPU but I am not so sure, and I have scourged around the internet for an answer but I get very mixed results.
My specs are:
AMD Ryzen 7 7700x
NVIDIA RTX 4080
Motherboard: B650 AORUS ELITE AX
PSU: EVGA 1000 GT Supernova (1000W Gold)
RAM: 32gb
OS: Windows 11
Drivers: ARE UP TO DATE!
The main issue is that my PC will lose signal from its monitors when they are plugged into the GPU, but sometimes instead of just losing signal, the fans in the computer case go into overdrive and crash the PC. Which is a fairly common issue, when searching for this problem. But when my monitor is plugged into my monitor directly, the PC will never crash, but my processor cannot handle a simple Youtube video, which seems very strange to me. Another thing that would cause crashing is if I even LIGHTLY TAP my computer case, my whole system would just cease to work, and sometimes fans go into massive overdrive.
I feel like this is important to note, which is why I am VERY CONFUSED. Less than a year ago, I was tired of the crashing so I plugged in my monitor to my CPU. But something odd happened, when I opened my task manager, my GPU was able to activate with no monitor connection, and was (what I assume) assisting in playing videos and loading games. Usually I cannot even load a simple video when my monitor is plugged into my motherboard, but during that little timespan I was able to play not just videos, but play games that were not so taxing on the computer like Counter Strike and Valorant. And at some point, my CPU could NOT handle playing videos and games again. So I decided to just have some hope, and plugged my DP cable back into my GPU and it was working quite well for about 6-7 months with no issues whatsoever! But now I am back with the same problem. I did plug my DP cable back into my motherboard directly but I am back to limited use where I cannot even open any type of media, unless my screen goes black for half a second and I can play some videos for a short while, then my PC can't handle it again?
With the context provided above, it feels like a GPU issue, but maybe it is a physcial issue with the PCI slot? Or could it be the graphics card itself? I also heard of issues with 4000 series GFX cards, that the cord connected to PSU sometimes is faulty. I even thought about it being the PSU, because why would it work for 6-7 months for a while, then not work again. It could point to a hardware/component issue, and maybe a capacitor cannot discharge itself correctly and is not rectify my voltage and it causes crashes, but I feel like that is getting way too electrical.
I just wanted to know if anyone had these tyrade of issues, and how did you fix it? These parts are just extremely expensive, and I just want to have a more narrowed idea or even just a solution to this. I know I might have to replace one of my components, I just need to know which one it is.
