How to read fan on HW Monitor?

Hello all. I have a question, recently I have noticed my fan running constantly, so I downloaded a few programs to check on it. I tried the HW Monitor but I really cant tell how to read it. Does anything look off in this screenshot. And why are there 3 different fans when I only see 2 when I open the case up? Thanks.

Nothing really jumps out at me as a problem. The CPU reaches 54 degrees as a maximum (probably while playing a game), which is a decent temperature.

As for the fan speeds, since there is so little variation between maximum and minimum speeds, it implies that they are running at full speed all the time. Are they PWM fans (4-pin) or do they use the standard 3-pin fan connector?

Thanks for the help. Should I take off the side and see what kind of connector it is or is there a way to check on my settings some how? I know I have a fan in the power supply, the one right in the middle of the cpu and one to direct airflow out the back.

Well I opened the side and the one going to the cpu has 4 wires coming out of the little tab thats connected and the one in the back of the case has 3 wires coming out of the connector.

The power supply fan won't even show up in HWMonitor, so we can just ignore that one.

The CPU fan is PWM and can change speed, but the case fan is not PWM, and can only run at one speed unless you install a fan controller.

As for the number of fans that show up in HWMonitor, your motherboard can support 4 fans (CPU fan and 3 case fans).

So the PWM fans should be changing speed depending on the workload of the PC right? Is there a reason that the pwm fan on the cpu would be constantly running at the same speed or do some of them just do that?

PWM fans change speed based on temperature load. Looking at your temperatures from HWMonitor, your minimum and maximum temperatures are within a few degrees of each other, so the fan doesn't have to change speed much to maintain temperature.

I'm trying to figure out if the PWM setting is based on the "Package" temperature or the "TMPIN1" reading. I'll have an answer on that in a few minutes.

Ok, so the "Package" temperature is the actual CPU temperature, while the "TMPIN1" reading is the temperature sensor built into the motherboard. As such, the PWM setting is going to be based on "Package."

Also, I have found that the maximum operating temperature for your processor is 71.3 degrees C. Your processor isn't very close to that maximum, but I'd recommend rechecking the cooling system making sure the CPU fan is installed correctly. Did you put this computer together yourself, or was it preassembled?

Hey sorry for the long wait in my reply, I have been out of town. My computer came preassembled. It is an HP Envy Desktop. Something strange happened though. I went into Bios mode and the fans slowed down to how they were before now they are running at 900 rpms instead of 2000 and 1000. I have had it on and off alot since then and it stayed running quietly. Strange, I dont know how simply entering BIOS mode fixed it.
