How to Reinstall Old GPU?

I installed a new GPU into my PC without uninstalling my old drivers. This GPU is defective and needs to be sent back, however, so I want to put my old GPU back in the PC for now. If I do, what drivers do I have to reinstall/uninstall since the drivers of my old and new GPUs will still be on there?

Just uninstall ALL GPU drivers you got and get completely fresh ones from the Nvidia/AMD website.

And how did you know that the GPU was defective?

if both are the same brand u won't need to reinstall driver.. if both are like 950 and 980ti ...

Old was an MSI 970, new is a Zotac 980 Ti.

And how did you know that the GPU was defective?

It's a problem with the fans that apparently others have experienced with this card (Zotac 980 Ti Amp Extreme). They randomly ramp up and down, sometimes only one or two will spin, it ignores any attempts I try to make a custom fan curve. They turn up fan speeds to almost max speed just for opening a game, not even playing it.

Also, do I go under Control Panel and uninstall all of the following, or a select few: NVIDIA 3D Vision Controller Driver 352.65, NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver 361.43, NVIDIA GeForce Experience 2.8.1.21, NVIDIA Graphics Driver 361.43, NVIDIA HD Audio Driver 1.3.34.4, NVIDIA Miracast Virtual Audio 361.43, and NVIDIA PhysX System Software 9.15.0428. After I'm done with unistalling those, why would I need to go to NVIDIA's website for drivers? Would I need to download drivers off there AND off of the MSI (GPU manufacturer) website?

there's no need to uninstall ur Nvidia driver.. if there are manufacture software like mai afterburner or anything install them till u get the 980ti.. again no need to uninstall ur Nvidia seiver

What you'll want to do is look up the support document on your current driver to see what it supports. For instance, the latest NVidia Driver for the GTX 980 TI states the following under Supported Products:

GeForce 900 Series
GeForce GTX TITAN X, GeForce GTX 980 Ti, GeForce GTX 980, GeForce GTX 970, GeForce GTX 960, GeForce GTX 950

In which case, no driver uninstall/reinstall would be necessary. I suspect the same would be said for your current driver, provided it was released after the GTX 980 Ti card was released. To find out what version driver you currently have installed, open NVidia Control Panel and select the "System Information" link in the lower left corner. Then look up the supported products for that driver version. If you see the 980Ti listed, then you will not need to uninstall and reinstall drivers.
