How to remotely access files from a external hard drive with belkin n600 wireless N+ router

I would like to buy a external hard drive and be able to have remote access to files on it. I have a Belkin N600 DB Wireless N+ Router. I have read articles with other routers that can do this. Want to know if mine is capable. Can't find it anywhere

connect to the router and check if it has a dmz option

Either plug the external HDD into another machine on the network that you know the login credentials for or see if there are any HDDs out there that have WiFi in them that can directly link to your router
