About a month ago, I installed Linux mint, and then I got bored of it, so I deleted the Linux mint partition in windows, but GRUB was not removed, so now I have to type exit before I can boot to windows. I tried using the fix boot command in cmd, and I get an access denied message despite running the command as the user system 32 in cmd. I have even tried using a USB windows image and trying to do it from there and it still says access is denied. I ran the bootrec/rebuildbcd command, as well, and it said 0 identified windows installs. I don't know how to get access to these commands in command prompt since they don't work despite running as admin.

@Order 66 rather glad you asked this as I was about to post a message asking the same thing. I used an SSD to install Ubuntu to a PC and it didn't get picked up with that option (being sold, purchaser did not want Linux) and in spite of following a directive on getting it "clean of" the Linux install it still does that Grub loader thing to me as well.

Thank you to @Roland Of Gilead as I will be trying that this evening.

First of all, I would like to apologize to anyone who suggested to change the boot order in the BIOS, I was so laser focused on trying to repair the boot loader, I didn’t even try it. Second of all, changing the boot order fixed it. Thanks to everyone who contributed. @USAFRet, whose post should I mark as the solution to this thread?

I didn't even have time to look at it, being honest. The main individual in our office is out sick so I am running the front of the office yesterday and today. I will for sure be coming around to it this weekend and will post back my own experience. It isn't critical, but I would like to use that SSD elsewhere.

Thank you for asking!
