Hi folks...

I am upgrading hardware & some software on my friends desktop. Before she retired, her company installed some remote software on her desktop so she could work from home and have a secure connection to her office. This software was unable to be un installed from this company before they folded. This software is restricting software she wants to install, and stopping some W 10 systems from running. I need to know how to remove it. I tried all the normal stuff that I know, but no help. This software will not let windows 10 System Information to run. It will not allow me to install Samsung software for her new SS drive. I tried to install some software called Speccy which wold let me see some of the information that the built in W 10 System Information software would have told me. It installed, but will not run.

I would prefer a free tool, but I can pay for a tool that would do the job if that is what I have to do.

Can anyone here suggest something?

Thanks so much,
mraroid

If still running the OS that was installed by the former employer then what is needed (and should have been done immediately upon obtaining verification of the transfer to the user) is a full wipe and reinstall of the OS in order to remove all traces of corporate influence. Yes, applications will require reinstallation but having the installation media in your possession to do so is a requirement placed on you by law.

Thanks for your help ex-bubblehead. This desktop is old and she has lost any boxes with serial numbers and some of the software is impossible to be found. I am looking for a way to just deleting the offending software. Someone in the past (not me) tried to uninstall it. They were able to delete some of it, but what they deleted may have been helpful to use to properly un install this crap. So I am kind of stuck... I am not sure what to google - "how to uninstall stubborn software maybe??

Its more than just the offending software.
I am quite sure there are a multitude of corporate Registry entries that are affecting this system.

The only option here is a full wipe and reinstall.

First make an image of the current disk (e.g. Macrium) just in case the following does not work.

If you at least know where all of the offending software is located, I personally would boot with a usb linux distro and use its file manager to delete all of the offending software that I could identify and find. Then I would try rebooting the system and see how it responds. If it seems OK I would continue with a cleaner program. Personally I prefer Auslogics Boostspeed with its registry cleaner, Windows slimmer and other functions.

Hello dwd999. Ah, I had not thought about that. I am running Ubuntu on one of my desktops. I will find another that I can boot from a flash drive. I have not heard of Auslogics Boostspeed. I found the website. Do you use the paid version or the free version?
