I can't seem to check for update and install apps

Are you logged in with a Administrator Account or does your User account on the host computer have the applicable admin rights?

Look in Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer - there may be some additional error codes that may help identify the problem(s).

Use "WIN" + "I" > Update & Security > Windows Update to check the current update options on your computer.

Try running the built in Windows troubleshooters. They may find and fix something.

Also, via the command prompt, run "sfc /scannow" (without quotes). May find and repair some corrupted system file.
