A hard disk is non volatile memory on which read and write operation is performed. If a hard disk is built in the computer system then it is called the internal hard disk which resides in drive bay connected with motherboard by using any one of the SATA, ATA or SCSI cable and also connected with power supply unit. A hard disk is use to store any type of data like text, image, video, picture, music and the files for the operating system etc.
Basically hard drive is divided into two partitions one is primary partition and second one is extended partition. The primary partition is used to store all operating system related files and the extended partition can be further divide into various logical partitions or drives which can be accessed by the user to save the data.
When you turn on the computer a process is performed on hard disk called POST (Power On Self Test) which checks all required hardware component and mark their status. According to the boot priority now the system will check for the hard drive to load the operating system and in this case if the hard drive is not found or not accessible then system will return the “Hard Disk Not Found Error” and the booting process will not be completed. Their is many solution to resolve this error here I am going to discuss all just follow the steps given below.
BIOS is stands for the Basic Input Output System and all the hardware components are connected with it. You can easily disable or enable on-board ports and hardware components, usually a hard drive is connected to on-board with SATA or IDE port and if the port is disable then the hard disk can not be recognized. So just simply check the BIOS Setting and make it Enable if it set to Disable.
Check Hard Drive Cable
A hard drive is connected with two type of cables one is for power supply which is connected with SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply) and other is to transfer the data which is connected with SATA or IDE data cable. If any one of the cable is damaged or lose then hard disk can not perform the read or write operation. Check all cable and repair if any one is damaged or lose.
Replace the Hard Drive
If you performed above operations checking BIOS and cables connected with hard drive, every thing is fine then you need to replace the hard drive with new and then reinstall the operating system. Before installing operating system firstly ensure that the hard disk is compatible with your system configuration.
