Hello. Me and my friend are trying to recover an old chat log of our chat history on skype. If you don't know how to do this, basically you go to the username folder in your skype directory and go to the previous versions of the main.db file. The problem is for us its showing files from last week, we want one from about 3-4 weeks ago. Is there anyway we can go about somehow getting to that restore point? If not through windows, is there a program we could use, or would I have to like revert my computer to the time it occured? Thanks!

I don't use the restore point function a lot but as far as I can remember there's no such thing as a calendar from which you can pick a date and restore. The restore points are organized by date but not on a calendar. On Windows 7 there is a limited amount of time for each restore point, they last say, for 10 days each then they're replaced with another one created by Windows itself. The number of restore points depends on how much space on your HDD you're willing to make available for the restore ponts.

That's basically it.

You could try the 'restore' function of Windows(I think it exists since Win 7).

Restore Windows is available in windows 7, if you create a restore point, you can access it using start button, all programs, accessories, system tools and click restore windows, follow the screen instruction. Remember if there are damage files within windows registry or corrupted files in your windows system you can't restore your windows. lastly be sure to create restore point, so that you pick it anytime you like to restore the windows system.

The restore point you've just created will be used by you whenever you need it, for instance, when you run into a problem with Windows. You then get back to that restore point and everything will be like it was when you made the restore point.
