How to retrieve data from external hard drive Buffalo Mini Station 3.0

When I plug in the device to my computer, it recognises a new USB device but does not show data. The green light is running on the external hard drive. I have 2 computers and several USB ports. Please help

Hey Siobhan,

Open up your disk management tool, and see if the hard drive has been identified there. It might be that the drive has been recognized but is not assigning a drive letter.

When I open Disk mgmt tool it shows Toshiba MK3252GSK. Would this be another name for the device. Sorry I am not a computer whiz!!!
