Hello guys,

So I’m planning on switching everything on my PC except my current OS drive (SSD) and my HDD, which is just extra storage. Would it be fine to use Diskpart to completely wipe my HDD and reuse it as new when I plug it in the new PC? How about the SSD I have windows in? How would I be able to completely wipe the SSD with windows on it while on windows? Is it possible? Can someone please help explain this to me? I’m really nervous and scared about this stuff. I already created a Bootable windows installation media but I’m not sure on how the steps should be. I looked online and people are saying you can just leave windows as it is, and when booting FROM THE USB installation media, just format the drive and reuse it. Does that work? What would it look like if I left all of my files in the SSD and plugged it into the new PC when the booting installation was showing all of the drives to install windows on? Would there be partitions created? Would I need to delete them? I’m so confused, I don’t want there to be any BSOD or problems. If anyone could help me, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks :)

Heres how it works...

On your new machine, install the SSD only.
Attach the bootable thumb drive and start Windows installation. Its imperative to do a fresh Windows installation on a new machine, else there will be driver issues.
Once you start installation, Windows will give you an option to format the SSD for a fresh install. Follow the onscreen prompts.
Once your OS is up and running, switch off the pc and attach the HDD.
Now format the HDD, and you are good to go.
