I cloned my hdd yesterday as I was told by a friend that I would be able to use it to boot from another pc, however I have since found out this is not the case, I am now wondering how I would go about reversing this, as after cloning the drive(3tb seagate) from a samsung 840 ssd, the 3tb drive is now the size of the ssd, how do I go about getting the seagate drive to go back to it's 3tb state? I do not care about losing the cloned data on the hdd.

Solution
Just attach the 3TB drive to the computer, and I will assume that you are running Windows 7, open an elevated command prompt (right click run as admin). Type these commands in the window:

diskpart
list disk
select disk n (be sure to make n the correct number from the list disk that is the 3TB drive, VERY important not to screw that up)
clean

Once the clean is done, the 3TB drive will be unallocated, so go into disk management and initialize the drive using GPT and format to the full size of about 2.72TB.

Thanks dude, successfully followed your instructions and I have my drive back!

i did as you said with regards to clean hard drive .... when i plug it into my usb it comes on but i dont see it as a drive on my computer page ... any ideas

@oneshotward, best to start a new thread unless this solves it so you get some views (people tend to ignore old solved threads) and your issue is different.

If you cleaned the drive as I instructed the OP, you will need to go into disk management and initialize it in GPT if it is a 3TB, then format. If you cannot see it in disk management try another USB port, but if still not visible your USB dock may not support 3TB drives (check the manufacturer site for info on that) or your computer may not support it depending on your specs.
