Hey all!

I was just wondering how I can safely clean my powersupply. I noticed it has a lot of caked up dust and dust bunnies on the fan and inside in the guts of it. I was thinking I could switch it off, uncrew the bolts, disassemble it and clean it like any other pc component using a brush to dust it off and maybe alcohol wipes if needed but I was wondering if I should be aware of anything else in regards to safety. Any other tips are also appreciated!

Thank you :)

DO NOT OPEN IT>
Power supplies have very dangerous voltages inside even when unplugged.
The capacitors charge up and hold voltage until discharged.
The best way to clean it is an air compressor and a natural fiber /hair paint brush. with a wooden handle.
Just make sure to use the paint brush or wooden tooth pick to keep the fan from over spinning when blowing air into it.

Switching off is not sufficient.
Unplug from the wall.
Canned air is convenient, but you go through cans very quickly.
Buy a plug in air cleaner.
When you use it, immobilize the fan so that it does not spin up and get damaged.
A screwdriver or such will do it.

Nope. Get a can of air duster. Either tape the fans or hold them while you get the dust out and vacuum. Then hold and clean the fans.
