Question How to safely update bios

So i am trying to update my bios on my msi h61m e23 (b3). I have downloaded the latest file from msi and put it on a flash drive, but when i go to my bios to run it, it tells me there is no bios file on the drive.I tried just running the .exe within windows, and it gives me a ui saying bios is going to update, but after my pc restarts it's still the same version. Hopefully someone can help me fix this thanks very much!

If you go to this Web site below, it has a link right under the word BIOS on How to flash the BIOS (SOP Download).
I would read through that first.
