Hey guys i recently installed an SSD as an extra drive. I hooked it up with SATA that came with my mobo that said 3.0gps/6.0gpbs and was wondering if there was anyway to check the speeds to make sure everything is running smoothly.

Thanks

(ps this isnt a boot drive just an extra drive (using an standard hard disk as boot drive))

Have you by chance enabled AHCI in the bios? If not it is too late and the only way to do that now is with the registry hack or to reload Windows. In case you don't know AHCI needs to be enabled in the bios for windows to use the trim feature with the SSD and for the speed to be optimized. If it were possible to reload Windows then you could put Windows on the SSD and have AHCI enabled , there would be a noticeable performance increase with your computer.

Yes when i plugged the SSD up i went into BIOS and set my marvel ports to AHCI (my SSD is plugged into my marvel ports)

Thank you for the help. After running the ATTO Disk Benchmark it started slow but ended up a little bit over 350 MB / Sec read speed. Not quite the 500 MB / Sec that was advertised but still fast enough for me.

I just bought the samsung 830 256 mb/s myself today and ran some benchmarks. The results were as you said 350mb/s yet I have seen many pictures and you tube videos of the 830 reading at 500+ mb/s! Why are we getting gipped I wonder?

-former Crucial M4 64gb OS, imo seemed much faster with loading pages, files, etc. than this thing.
