how to set 144Hz configuration on sapphire 7970?

Hi,

I was recently given the VG278HE 144Hz monitor as a gift and am running a Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X.

I tried changing my Hz from 60Hz to 144Hz however I don't even get the option to do this. I know this is definitely possible because there are people that run this.

Connection: DVI

Almost pulling my hair out!

Verify that your DVI cable is a Dual link. This is required for running at 120Hz and above. See Wikipedia for a picture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface, but it should have all 24 pins besides the big ground pin.

You may also need to try the 2nd DVI-D port, in case the one you tried is not dual link. Some cards don't have both DVI ports as Dual link, by design or by fault.

Thanks for the response. I was using a DVI-I single link and have switch to the DVI-D Dual link. However I'm still not able to change the Hz. It just says use hardware default setting.

Is there anything I may have to manually change?

Right click desktop, go to Screen resolution, advanced settings, monitor tab and switch hz there. There should be a way to do it from within the CCC too.

This is exactly how I've been trying to change the Hz. However still not able to.

Hi Mate.

It's quite simple after all. Make sure you use the Dual Link DVI-D cable and use the top DVI connection on the 7970. its quite easy to see. It's actually be the one that has more connection holes than the other DVI connection.
