How to set up a password on my Linksys Router

I have a Linksys router, hooked up to my Ubee Cable Modem. The wi-fi works just fine, but I absolutely cannot figure out how to set up a password on my connection and have over fifty people connecting to it! I've tried going to 192.168.1.1 and the page can't be displayed. PLEASE HELP ME!

Thankyou! I will have to try that. I had to use a default username/password for the actual modem, so I didn't figure I had to do it with the router also. Maybe that's why I couldn't connect to 192.168.1.1?

Is your default gateway 192.168.1.1? If not, then log on to whatever your default gateway is.

Yep, I got to log on and everything, but now it will NOT let me choose my Security Mode. The router is a WRT54GS Model, I'm pretty sure it's ancient so I can't figure it out haha. But, I'm logged in and now trying to figure out how to set up the password in the Wireless Security Menu.
