It may also be worthwhile to look at Truecrypt... the software is free and offers some of the meanest encryption around that's ready available to the avarage joe. Since its free you can use on as many Drives/ PC's as you like. You can even encrypt the boot drive of your PC.

Your have posted in the Mac OS X forum, from this I can only assume you want to secure a Mac OS X enternal drive.

Use Filevault for this (google it). The software you selected as 'best answer' only runs on Windows
