HEy i just bought my second gtx 670 FTW. DO i have to do anything before i attach it to the mobo? And after i do install it what settings do i have to change to enable the SLI settings.

When I've installed the second card and the SLI bridge at the same time, I've running into quirky issues.

Through experience, I've found this is the best way to set up a new SLI config:

1) With the machine off and the power cable unplugged from the PSU, Install the new card without the SLI bridge
2) Re-attach power cable and Power on/Start up
- This will let the OS and Nvidia drivers recognize the second card.
3) Shutdown
4) Install the SLI bridge
5) Power on/Startup
6) Go into Nvidia Control Panel under '3D Settings'-'Set SLI and PhysX configuration' and the 'SLI Configuration' section choose 'Maximize 3D Performance' then click the 'Apply' button

At that point, you'll be running in SLI mode.

It's great tech! Enjoy it!

Ok thanks. The placment of the second card, does it matter in which PCIE slot I pue it in. I have 3 pcie slots. I have placed the original gtx 670 ftw I have in the first pcie slot closest to the cpu. The second one is literally right under the first one and the third one is a little ways down. If i put it in the second one i feel like the first gtx 670 wont get enough air.

They actually will run fine right next to each other; just hotter, but still within tolerance without a problem.

What kind of motherboard do you have? X58?

I have the gigabyte 990fx-ud3

Assuming you have a standard case with the processor at the top side of your motherboard...
On that motherboard, your x16 slots are the first (topmost) and third PCIe x16 slots. They are labeled PCIEX16_1 and PCIEX16_2. The second and fourth PCIe slots run at x4 and are labeled PCIEX4_1 and PCIEX4_2. The only way you'll be able to run SLI is with the video cards in PCIEX16_1 and PCIEX16_2 since the Nvidia cards need an X8 or X16 slot for SLI.

This means you'll have a slot of separation between a two-slot videocard in the first PCIe x16 slot (labeled PCIEX16_1 on the motherboard) and the two-slot videocard in the third PCIe x16 slot (labeled PCIEX16_2 on your motherboard). Your cards should not be sandwiched together. With both cards in the right slots, the PCIEX4_1 slot should be empty and visible between the cards.
