How to setup dual monitors with radeon 8500 in XP?

I've got a problem with my 8500, I bought that card with dual monitor capability in mind, but it doesn´t work!
When windows starts the screens are displaying the boot images, but when windows finally starts only one display is working, the other one changes to red LED showing its inactivity.
I've tried to activate the second monitor in the display settings but I can only modify one monitor, the other remains inactive and there is a simbol in the second monitor indicating that there is not connected.
When I try to "extend desktop to this monitor" the screen turns a moment to black but after a few seconds, turns again to my desktop and nothing has changed.
I've tested all connections and are OK. What's the matter?
I'm unable to install a second monitor; in the control panel only appears one monitor.

Win XP + ATI... Well normaly the way to do it should be to click on "extend desktop..." then effectively, the screen n°2 blink and shows the second screen... change the drivers perhaps.

I have a tri processor XP 1900+, i can say that my 'notepad' is very fast now...
