how to share hdd via usb?

i want to connect my eternal hdd simultaneously to my tv (so that i can watch my videos on it) and also to my wireless router (so that i can access all the other files from my laptop).

i tried making a usb-y cable with one female jack and two male jacks, and connected one male jack to each aforementioned devices. but it didnt work at all. (my tv doesnt hav a lan port, so cant run a lan cable from the router to the tv)
i also tried using a "kvm switch", but it only gives the output to any one of the terminals at a time, but i want the output of the hdd to both the terminals at all times.


any solution for this................?

You can't access a HDD from 2 devices at once.

With your Yaw cable you might have damaged the ports on your TV and Router, so you better check. There is no device you're looking after. Check whether your router can stream to your TV over Ethernet.

no damage anywhere. the tv doesnt have any Ethernet port.
