Question How to switch between headphones and speakers while keeping the headphones plugged in

I have a soundbar connected to my monitor which gets its sound though the DisplayPort connection and passes it to the soundbar through a USB connection. The soundbar has a headphone jack which, when in use, turns off the speaker. the jack is difficult to get to and I would like to keep the headphones plugged in and be able to switch between them and the speaker with the flip of a switch. Is this possible?

It may be possible to disassemble the sound bar and locate the jack detection circuit and put a switch on it and mount it flush to the case, if there is room.

A simpler way may be, to use the headphones plugged into the motherboard jack or front panel jack, and switch between them using the Windows 10 sound settings dialog (easiest to access by right-clicking on the speaker icon and selecting "sound settings") and choosing between the on-board and sound bar.
