i want to upgrade my cpu from e6550 to core 2 quad, but i dont know if my motherboard will support this type. Can you please tell me what cpu should I upgrade to? I have HP Compaq dc7800..can it support quad core processor?

Solution
In this case DC7800 does support quad core.
But socket 775 board does not indicate that all CPU's are compatible.
Early G915 chipsets's don't even support core2duo and are limited to pentiums.
There are few VIA SKT775 chipsets that only support 65nm dual core.
Some GM960 chipsets do not support 45nm CPU's.

Thank you for your answer..I found this Intel Core2 Quad q8200 processor (http://ark.intel.com/products/36547/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q8200-4M-Cache-2_33-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB) and I don't know if my motherboard supports it..
